Day 1: Arrival in Normandy...Bayeux

Bayeux: guided tour of the city

Spared from the World Wars, the medieval city of Bayeux has a rich architectural heritage. The historic centre, beautifully preserved, invites people on foot to discover its Gothic-style cathedral and stroll through its old streets lined with stylish mansions and very old, timbered homes. 

Drop-off at your hotel, and dinner is at your leisure.

Day 2: Exclusive private day in Normandy... Pointe-du-Hoc, Omaha Beach, American Cemetery and Longues-sur-Mer

Pick-up is at 9:00 AM at the hotel.

Pointe-du-Hoc promontory

A beautiful natural place featuring majestic cliffs, rock formations and a moor.  It is also the site of great American bravery. Located between Utah and Omaha beaches, the GIs stealthily climbed these treacherous cliffs while bearing their heavy equipment and unleashed a surprise attack which neutralizied the enemy's guns and cannons that had been laying in wait for them! 

Omaha and the American Cemetery

Genuine American soil in Normandy! In 1956, a decade after the end of WWII, France gave a prominent plot of land to the United States, and in the heart of this American Sector, Omaha Beach, which takes you back to the frightening and triumphant day of June 6, 1944. Imagine thunderous bombings here contrasting with the bucolic and peaceful atmosphere of today. “Bloody Omaha”, named after the unspeakable casualties endured - and a poignant example of human bravery.

The cemetery consists of lines of marble grave markers that seem to go on forever, along with several monuments paying homage to the over 9000 U.S. infantry men who gave their lives and will rest here for eternity.  Step inside the Visitor’s Center, the chapel, and then take a quiet moment in the Garden of the Missing memorializing the names of over 1500 soldiers who were never recovered.

Indeed, the Loire Valley has the undisputed reputation of containing the most beautiful of the French castles - such as Chenonceau, Chambord or Azay le Rideau. While here, might as well take some time to discover its "terroir" - the exceptional wines (Vouvray or Chinon) and cheeses (Sainte Maure de Touraine or Selles sur Cher).

Dominated by the royal château on high, enjoy Amboise at street level, with its shops, bars, restaurants, and numerous Medieval half-timbered and Renaissance homes - Amboise is certainly one of the more quaint towns in the Loire Valley.

In the middle of a forest the size of Paris, Chambord was the first Loire Valley chateau listed in the world heritage by UNESCO. King Francois the 1st ordered it built in 1519 and it ended up with 426 rooms, 77 staircases and 282 fireplaces - easily the largest castle in the region. Notable fact: Leonardo da Vinci designed and engineered its incredible double-helix staircase.

Tour and wine tasting with a Specialist in matured Loire Valley vintages at Caves Ambacia

Welcome to this cellar cave established back in 1874. Here you can discover a large range of vintages, from 1947 to the present. Made of chenin blanc, the Vouvray is a mineral wine with a high acidity that gives it a great capacity to age well. The meal served here is based around the Loire Valley wines and includes tastings of local culinary products. 

Guided tour of the Chateau of Chenonceau

The unique architecture of the Chateau makes it one of the most exquisite Chateaux in the Loire Valley. Nicknamed “the ladies castle", Chenonceau is associated with prominent French women such as Catherine de Medici. The exquisite Renaissance gardens surrounding it make it even more spectacular.
