Taittinger is one of the last Grandes Maisons de Champagne to be independant and owned by the grandson of the founder, Pierre Taittinger. Taittinger's style is characterised by a high proportion of Chardonnay, synonymous with finesse and elegance in the Champagne region.
Taittinger vineyards cover 288 hectares which include some of the appellation's finest. This Grande Maison's treasure is not only the millions of bottles in the cellars but the remains from the old benedictine abbey of St Nicaise dating back to the 13th century and the old Romain chalk quarries dating from the 4th century listed as a Unesco world heritage site. The tour is followed by a tasting of one glass of Brut Réserve.
And there is the possibility for you to try other kinds of Champagnes. You just have to pay for the extra tastings directly on our website or at the end of the tour.
Sightseeing of the city of Reims: Grandes Maisons de Champagne, Cathedral...
We will drive through the streets of Reims to show you famous Champagne Houses, the beautiful city center and its imposing Cathedral. We will show you places like the Royal Square, the City Hall, the Roman Ruins ans the widest Roman Arch in the world. Listed in the Unesco World Heritage, 13th century Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral is one of Europe's most important Gothic structures, where most kings of France were crowned.
Hautvillers sightseeing
On the way to Epernay, we take you to the Marne River Valley on a journey through the vineyards to meet a prestigious personality of the area: Dom Pérignon, Champagne Wine's Spiritual Father. He contributed heavily to the fame of Champagne and is now buried in the church of the former Benedictine Abbey, in the countryside village of Hautvillers.

Located in the heart of Epernay, the town internationally known as the "Capital of Champagne", its stunning main street displays a 1 kilometer long exhibition of opulent mansions housing some of the most illustrious Maisons de Champagne: Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouet, Pol Roger, Mercier, etc. Not to mention the dozens of kilometers under the pavement!

Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, it became within 40 years the first international brand in the world. Its history is linked with some famous figures such as The Marquise de Pompadour and Napoleon 1st, and many historical events among which King Edwards VII’s coronation, Cannes Film Festival, the Golden Globes, the 120th anniversary of the Liberty Statue, etc… You are going to visit the largest cellar in champagne. Veuve Clicquot-Ponsardin is a Champagne House founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot that became famous thanks to Madam Barbe Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin. You will learn about this visionary young widow who built an empire, and became a legend in her time: “the Grande Dame of Champagne". For a while, take a dip into the heart of this House, its heritage, its savoir-faire. And discover its unique Roman chalk-cellars and the making-process of Champagne.
At the end of the tour, enjoy a tasting of one glass of Brut Yellow Label cuvée.

Guided tour of the Cathedral of Reims
Listed in the Unesco World Heritage, 13th century Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral is one of Europe's most important Gothic structures. You will be captivated by the unique stained glasses and the exceptionally rich statuary – over 2300 statues among which the famous Smiling Angel. It is here that King Clovis was baptized around year 498 giving birth to the Kingdom of the Franks, starting a long lasting tradition: between 1027 and 1825, all but two Kings of France were crowned here!
Reims Mountain Grand Cru Vineyards
From the city we will drive you through the Grand Cru vineyards of Reims Mountain, where the Scenic Route of Champagne winds its way between fields of barley, extensive plains, grapevines, forests and picturesque villages such as Verzy, Verzenay and Mailly. Realm of the Pinot Noir varietal, the Mountain of Reims is known for its special "terroir" that gives to Champagne much of its power and character. Let's stop in the vineyard to discover it together!
In the heart of the Champagne’s Vineyards, you will be welcomed at a beautiful Champagne Grower Family Estate. More that 4000 family winemakers contribute to the prestige of Champagne and maintain the Tradition alive from generation to generation, with a common goal: the true expression of Champagne.
First you will experience a refined meal with typical French ingredients and Champagne specialties, which will be paired with different glasses of Champagne (Brut non vintage, Blanc de Noirs, Rosé). This Family of Growers is a Champagne Expert in assembling Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and Meunier grapes from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vines in Reims Mountain.
Visit of the Production Site and Second Champagne Tasting
After Lunch we will walk to the production site to see how Champagne is made: the press, the winery with vats and barrels, the chalky cellar, the labelling machine. We finish the lovely afternoon program with another tasting of 2 glasses of different Champagne wines from the same Family Grower, and a glass of their Ratafia (sweet liquor made with Champagne brandy mixed with grape juice, aged in barrel). Then we take you back to Reims.

It has been owned by the same family since the XIII. The Marquis Hurault de Vibraye, thanks to one of the most beautiful furniture in the Loire Valley, has succeeded in giving warmth and life to his chateau. The chateau, which led to the creation of Moulinsart in the famous comic book Tintin, is also famous for the tradition of the horse-back hunt and its impressive pack of 100 dogs. You may have a chance to witness the spectacular daily event of “the dogs’ soup”.
Drive to the Estate of Chambord, a national game reserve as large as the town of Paris. The chateau de Chambord (guided tour) is a unique monument by its architecture and proportions. Leonardo da Vinci probably took part in the conception of the project. With more than 400 rooms and its double spiral staircase, Chambord is a highlight of the Loire Valley.

Arriving in the Loire Valley, you’ll start your day tour touring the château de Chenonceau.
The “Chateau des Dames”, bridge built across the Cher, is famous for the great feminine figures who lived in it (Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de Medicis…) and for the beauty of its Renaissance gardens.
Pascal and his team, welcome you in his caves, former tuff stone quarries, for a tour followed by a wine tasting of 3 local wines.

After lunch, you will tour the Royal Castle of Amboise, residence of Charles VIII and young François d’Angoulème, future Francois I. You will discover in this wonderful castle, perfect example of transition from Gothic to Renaissance, the Saint Hubert Chapel which shelters today the grave of Leonardo da Vinci.
In order to make your tour thorough, we take you to meet the Genius in his Chateau du Clos Lucé, a few yards away from the Royal Castle.
Leonardo da Vinci spent there the last three years of his life and died there in 1519. After you tour his bedroom, office, reception room and kitchen, you will be in awe in front of the invention room, displaying models of the most spectacular machines Leonardo invented.
Guided tour of the chateau of Azay le Rideau.
This is one of the purest gems of Renaissance architecture in the Loire Valley. Financer Gilles Berthelot’s Chateau, delicately placed on an island on the Indre river, still shines today thanks to the lightness and balance of its mullioned, pepper pots, dormers and above all its graceful staircase.
We will not forget to admire the Chateau under every angle with a stroll around the English style garden, a jewel case of greenness for what is considered today as one of the most beautiful stone diamonds in Touraine.
The vines of this estate are ideally spread out over the entire « terroir » covered by the appellation, from the gravel shores along the Loire River to the clay, limestone and silica (mineral) soils of the hills overlooking the valley.
The red and rosé wines produced on the domain are presented under the appellation « Bourgueil » AOC. They stem 100% from the « Cabernet Franc » grape, introduced by the monks of the Abbey in the XIth century.
