Pick up is at 8:50 AM in front of the bus stop at Place Pasteur in Sarlat la Caneda.

Discover an underground world in the Padirac Chasm

Your adventure begins at the Padirac Chasm, only an hour from Sarlat, with a tour of one of the most extraordinary natural site of the region. Here the atmosphere changes and you'll see what the inside of the earth looks like as you take an open elevator down 103 metres (335 feet) below the surface. Then you'll go on an extraordinary and peaceful boat ride along a subterranean river followed by a walk along a path taking you through large caves decorated with impressive limestone formations.  At this latter point there is no more sky but there are many vaulted chambers, each one more breathtaking than the last.

The pilgrim and fortress village of Rocamadour

Next up it's the fortified village of Rocamadour, beautifully set high up on a gorge of the River L’Alzou, a tributary of the River Dordogne. The village is renowned for its historical monuments, such as the well-preserved fortress overlooking the village. For centuries, pilgrims, Kings, Bishops and Nobles from many countries have flocked to the village in order to climb the 216 steps up to the shrine of the Virgin Mary and pray at the tomb of early Christian hermit, Zaccheus of Jericho (from whom it is believed the village was named). This remarkable, naturally set religious village attracts over a  million-and-a-half visitors and pilgrims per year. 

You'll then have a guided walking tour of the village - classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site as it is located on the way to Santiago de Compostela (St. James Way). 

Please note that accessing the sanctuaries by lift is possible for those with walking problems (a lift-ticket is not included in the tour price).

Lunch is at your leisure and there will be some free time for personal discovery.

Then it's departure from Rocamadour to Sarlat while enjoying a relaxing drive along the Dordogne valley.

Drop off is at 5:00 PM at Place Pasteur in Sarlat.

Additional information

It is highly recommend that our Paris and Bordeaux customers arrive at least one day earlier to guarantee punctuality on the day of their tour.  We're happy to help with train or other transportation arrangements.
